Fachhochschule

Fachhochscule is a higher education institution, typically in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, that provide programmes with a more professional orientation or with a focus on a certain profession in the labour market.

Field(s) of study

A category or categories that bring(s) together content and discipline related higher education programmes. Qrossroads refers to the UNESCO/OECD's International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED) fields of study.

Formal learning

Learning typically provided by an education institution, structured (in terms of learning objectives, learning time or learning support) and leading to certification. Formal learning is intentional from the learner’s perspective.

Framework for Qualifications (European level)

Framework for Qualifications of the European Higher Education Area is an overarching framework that makes transparent the relationship between national qualifications frameworks and between the qualifications they contain. It is an articulation mechanism between national frameworks.
