European grants and scholarships

The European Union provides several scholarship and grants within the framework of their higher education programmes and cooperations. Additionally, national authorities also provide some funding possibility. You can find these under the "Studying in ..." chapter of the relevant countries.

Below are most of the European Union's scholarship programmes.

  • Erasmus Mundus 
    The Erasmus Mundus programme is the global co-operation and mobility programme of the European Union. It supports European top-quality Master's programmes and contributes to the visibility and attractiveness of European higher education in third countries. It provides EU-funded scholarships for third country nationals participating in these Erasmus Mundus Master's programmes, as well as scholarships for EU-nationals studying at partner universities throughout the world.

  • Erasmus Mundus External Co-operation Window 
    This is a co-operation and mobility scheme in the area of higher education co-operation launched by Europe Aid cooperation Office.
    This programme applies to students and academic staff from eligible countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Pacific and the Western Balkans. 
    The Erasmus Mundus External Co-operation Window supports the exchange of students, researchers and academic staff between institutions in eligible European and third countries for periods ranging from 1 to 34 months.

  • EU-US (Atlantis)
    The programme is funded and managed jointly by the European Commission and by the US Department of Education. 
    Only students belonging to the selected universities can apply through their own university to do a period of study in either US or in one of the EU Member States. Accordingly, the programme deals only with higher education institutions and not with individuals seeking information about study abroad or scholarship opportunities.

  • EU-Japan 
    Only students belonging to the selected universities can apply through their own university to do a period of study in either Japan or in one of the EU Member States. Accordingly, the programme deals only with higher education institutions and not with individuals seeking information about study abroad or scholarship opportunities.

  • EU-Australia
    Only students belonging to the selected universities can apply through their own university to do a period of study in either Australia or in one of the EU Member States. Accordingly, the programme deals only with higher education institutions and not with individuals seeking information about study abroad or scholarship opportunities.

    Only students belonging to the selected universities can apply through their own university to do a period of study in either Australia or in one of the EU Member States. Accordingly, the programme deals only with higher education institutions and not with individuals seeking information about study abroad or scholarship opportunities.

    This programme falls under the EU's 7th Framework Programme promotes excellence in research training, mobility, and career development for researchers at all levels, both inside and outside the European Union.
