Legal framework
NOKUT's current legal bais is the Universities and Colleges Act No 15 of 1 April 2005.
NOKUT is a public agency and reports administratively to the Ministry of Research and Education. NOKUT is a self-governing body and its quality assessments and accreditation decisions cannot be modified by government. However, the Ministry can ask the agency to conduct certain evaluations.
