| In brief | In February 2004 the Bruckner University was the first Austrian conservatory to be granted the legal status of a university. The academic degrees offered by the university are recognized internationally: the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and the Master of Arts (MA) degrees are modelled on the European prerequisites of the Bologna Protocol. The Bruckner University has full legal status and is financed by the province of Upper Austria. Students may apply for state-financed scholarships. The tuition fees are well below standard Austrian university fees. The Bruckner University offers internationally recognized academic degree courses in Music, Drama and Dance (performance and pedagogy). Bachelor of Arts: The course comprises six to eight semesters depending on the choice of subjects. Master of Arts: The four-semester programme is based on the BA degree and involves in depth study of selected subjects of modules.
Special Courses These non-degree university level courses are available on a part-time basis and last between four and six semesters. A diploma (no academic degree) is awarded on successful completion of the course. Further programmes include basic study courses (minimum age: twelve years), career development programmes and courses and individualised programmes of study.
