The Sigmund Freud University, Vienna, now offers Baccalaureate, Masters, and Doctorate Degree Programmes in Psychotherapy Science, as well as a Baccalaureate Program in Psychology. Psychotherapy Science is an Academic Programme that also includes supervisions, Psychotherapy self-experience, and practical work with patients. The Sigmund Freud University operates its own Psychotherapy Outpatient Clinic, allowing students to undergo practical training in-house. Additionally, the University offers a variety of Continuing Education and Professional Development programmes, including a three semester "Senior Citizen Programme".
The SFU faculty consists of internationally renowned professors, both Austrian and from abroad. The programme is designed so that learning takes place mainly in small groups. Each student is assigned their own Mentor, who accompanies and supports them throughout the duration of the course. The scheduling of the programme makes it possible for students to have jobs while completing the course.
The Admission Interviews for the programme are designed to determine whether the candidate is suitable for the study of Psychotherapy, as well as whether the candidate is appropriately motivated. The candidates are required to successfully complete two Admission Interviews and an Admission Seminar in order to be accepted into the programme. In addition to academic qualifications, the Sigmund Freud University places great value on the social interaction skills.
