| In brief |
In October 2007, MODUL University Vienna, located on Kahlenberg, a scenic hill on the outskirts of the city, opened its doors. MODUL Private University not only offers breathtaking views of Vienna, but also expands the horizons of Austria’s educational infrastructure. Offering Bachelor and Masters Study programs in the area of Tourism Management, MU Vienna is the first Austrian institution to offer such degree programs at university level. The study programs are innovative in Austria’s current educational market, and fill the existing gap in Austria’s tertiary education system. MU Vienna was an immediate success. In the first year alone, 80 students from 22 different nations embarked upon their studies at the MU Vienna. As of October 2008 and the beginning of the second academic year, this figure has risen to 150, with students originating from over 30 countries. In the final stage of expansion of this young educational institution – estimated in 2011 – more than 540 young adults will be studying on Kahlenberg. In October this year, MODUL University Vienna launched an innovative new study program, a Master of Business Administration in Public Governance and Management. The quality of MUV’s educational programs, which are internationally oriented, is second to none. The programs have fulfilled the strict accreditation requirements laid out by the Austrian Accreditation Council – a sure sign of high quality, and something which is not always a given in Austria’s public universities. All study programs are conducted entirely in English. The owners of MU Vienna support the concept of quality in Education. The university is co-owned, with 90% belonging to the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, and 10% to the Tourism Investor Scheich Mohammed bin Issa Al Jaber, who backs this ambitious institute. There are currently around 35 nationally based academic staff, and 25 internationally based lecturers employed at the university. Modul University Vienna Private University |
