The view of the education, translated into actual objectives and final terms, is the result of a) the paradigm of the circumscriptions by decree(articles 12 & 58), b) the bama profiles, as synthesized by the Associatie KULeuven, c) the educational vision of basic music training subject to the judgment of the May 2003 external visitation and d) deliberation talks between teachers, students and alumni of the education program. Anyway, summarizing that vision adequately in a few lines is to be considered impossible. Hence you are referred to the Lemmensinstituut website (www.lemmens.wenk.be) and we proceed offering only a brief synthesis of competences. The graduated bachelor: - has both theoretical and practice-oriented knowledge of and insight into the fundamental (theoretic, historic, stylistic) components of Dutch literature and world literature, - is able to link the characteristics of that literature with other trends in culture and artistic manifestations, - knows in what way and under what historico-cultural and structural circumstances the literary language concept concerned has been realized,- knows (both concerning insight and practice; and based on artistic investigations into the correlation between formal and stylistic features, eloquence regarding content and socio-cultural limiting conditions) what evolutionary itinerary that artistic germ has followed, - is aware of recent artistic developments concerning drama, - has, through direct confrontation with the practice labs of artistic research, sufficient feel for new ways that literary and dramatic language can venture into. He is independently capable of: - holding a well-balanced, i.e. an artistically logical and convincing discourse in accordance with the theoretical and historical foundations of Dutch literature, either as a performer, an agogics expert, a producer or a writer, - retrieving the fundamental components and historical backgrounds of his staging art from expert literature (in Dutch, English, French and German), of relating that information to the published source itself (text, audio-visual recording) and to the ready knowledge acquired and consolidated throughout his studies, - adopting an artistically justified standpoint in the confrontation of theatrical reality and meta-artistic consideration and analysis (artistic, normative, social, ethical dimensions) and of delivering an artistically founded quality judgment about literature through the synthesis of direct textual input and the positioning of source materials in a historico-cultural context, -discovering (identification of study items), processing, relativizing and integrating theatrical manifestations, principico-agogical starting-points and modi operandi, artistic interpretations, analyses and insight, definitions of problems of the purely theoretical as well as the content-considering kind within the context of a possible solving matrix (definition and selection of adequate research methods), to be related to a personal, artistic field of knowledge and skill (development of expertise), - presenting a report about these and communicating with colleagues and the world, - scheduling a workgrid, leading a meeting, coaching people.
